OUR DIVISIONS

THE DIVISION A PLAYER IS PLACED IN IS DETERMINED BY THEIR AGE AS OF DECEMBER 31 OF THE CURRENT SOCCER YEAR

JUNIOR MYTE - Primarily for participants who are 4 years old, we will however allow 3 1/2 year olds to register. We leave it to the parent’s discretion as to whether or not their 3 1/2  year old is ready to participate.

            This 12 week program runs on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 10am. (June to August)

            Basic introduction to soccer skills, kicking the ball, not using hands, and direction of play (which goal am I trying to score in) are the main focuses.

            Each hour is broken down into @ 10 minutes of general warm-up, 20 minutes of learning and practicing a new skill, 10 minute break, and finally a 20 minute scrimmage game against another team to put our new skills to the test.

MYTE DIVISION- This is for players who are 5 and 6. There is one division for girls and another division for boys.

 This division is focused on the continuation/introduction of basic soccer skills with the introduction of team play.

 The Mytes play half-field soccer on half-sized goals. The rules are simplified to the very basics of the game. Games consist of 8 players (7 + keeper) on 8.

Games are broken down into 6- 7 minute periods. There is a half-time break between the 3 and 4th periods. Games are played once a week, on the same evening, and last @ 55 minutes in total.

            This division will also have a weekly practice @ 1 hour in length.

TYKE DIVISION- This is for players who are 7 and 8. There is one division for girls and another division for boys.

 This division is focused on the continuation of basic soccer skills with the continuation of team play. Moving the ball by passing to “open” teammates, and to position yourself in open space to receive a pass. The introduction of “attacking” the ball, to get it off your opponent.

 The Tykes play half-field soccer on half-sized goals. The rules are simplified to the very basics of the game. Games consist of 9 players (8 + keeper) on 9.

Games are broken down into 6- 7 minute periods. There is a half-time break between the 3 and 4th periods. Games are played once a week, on the same evening, and last @ 55 minutes in total.

            This division will also have a weekly practice @ 1 hour in length.

ATOM DIVISION- This is for players who are 9 to 11. There is one division for girls and another division for boys.

This division is focused on the continuation of basic soccer skills with the emphasis on team play. Passing the ball to open space to move it around the field, and to position yourself in open space. Players continue to practice attacking the ball and introduction of positional play.  The introduction of “set plays”.

 The Atoms play full field soccer on full sized goals. Full FIFA rules are introduced. Games consist of 11 players (10 + keeper) on 11.

Games are broken down into 6- 7 minute periods. There is a half-time break between the 3 and 4th periods. Games are played once a week, on the same evening, and last @ 55 minutes in total.

            This division will also have a weekly practice @ 1 hour in length.

NOVICE DIVISON- This is for players who are 12 to 14. There is one division for girls and another division for boys.

This division is focused on the continuation of basic soccer skills with the emphasis on team play. Passing the ball to open space to move it around the field, and to position yourself in open space. Players continue to practice attacking the ball and an emphasis on positional play.  The continuation of practicing/learning “set plays”.

 The Novices play full field soccer on full sized goals. Full FIFA rules are enforced. Games consist of 11 players (10 + keeper) on 11.

Games are broken down into 2 -35 minute halves with a 5 min. break at the half. Quick player changes occur @ every 11 minutes. Games are played once a week, on the same evening, and last @ 1 hour 15 minutes in total.

            This division will also have a weekly practice @ 1 hour in length.

BANTAM DIVISION- This is for players who are 15 to 17. There is one division for girls and another division for boys.

This division is focused on team play. Passing the ball to open space to move it around the field, and to position yourself in open space. Players continue to practice attacking the ball and an emphasis on positional play.  The continuation of practicing/learning “set plays”. The introduction and emphasis on game strategies.

 The Bantams play full field soccer on full sized goals. Full FIFA rules are enforced. Games consist of 11 players (10 + keeper) on 11.

Games are broken down into 2 -40 minute halves with a 5 min. break at the half. Quick player changes occur @ every 13 minutes. Games are played once a week, on the same evening, and last @ 1 hour 25 minutes in total.

            This division will also have a weekly practice @ 1 hour in length.

SPECIAL NEEDS DIVISION- For those players in our community with learning difficulties. Meeting on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to noon at the Bogart Park (Port Weller Community Centre). Fun and team play are the main focuses. With a group of dedicated volunteer coaches, we can usually customize a program for each individual player if needed.

            Generally, this division will warm-up/practice for @ 30 minutes and then play one large game- usually the boys against the girls (player directed- not coaches)- for @ 1 hour with breaks as needed.

            This division plays full field soccer- with selective rules kind of enforced. Coaches are on the field to participate and assist with those who need it.
